Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MEM29004 - Analyse and problem solve a PLC based industrial control system

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Identify the control and networking requirements for the PLC application

  1. Identify the control system specifications and PLC application requirements from documentation, work request or discussion with relevant personnel
  2. Analyse PLC application requirements and identify the relationship to the broader Industry 4.0 systems and environment in the enterprise
  3. Analyse PLC application requirements for workplace health and safety (WHS) and risk control implications
  4. Analyse control system specifications and PLC application requirements and determine the extent of local and cloud-based processing and programming required
  5. Identify and select resources and equipment requiring local installation that are consistent with PLC application requirements and manufacturer’s specifications
